# Square crops for lead images

!["Artists" page showing square cropped lead images for each of the artist keywords.](https://cache.media.digitalphotogallery.com/hyqelgcvfopo/images/1a532f94-a76b-11e7-9dcc-b68a4d6fbdb2/971_support.jpg?generated=20171002131632)

Some areas of the gallery use cropped thumbnails to represent items within a section, such as keywords. While DPG will try to intelligently select the best area for the crop, you can also choose it manually using the [crop tool](https://support.digitalphotogallery.com/articles/article/28dc013a-ab85-11e2-bc0b-b8f6b11825bb).

> 💡 **Tip:** The crop selection of an image does not affect the original dimensions or aspect ratio, just the way that it is viewed in the relevant (e.g. square) view.

You can find the **Crop** panel in the sidebar when viewing an individual image.
